Attendance

Children are expected to come to school every day. Attendance and achievement are closely linked and good habits, developed early in life do have an impact on levels of achievement.

If your child is ill and unable to come to school, you must notify us and telephone school before 10.00am on 0114 2441826.

If any child’s attendance falls below 90% a member of the Access and Inclusion Service will visit to see how they can support you in improving your child’s attendance. If your child is late regularly the Education Welfare Officer (EWO) will visit you.

If your child needs to attend a medical appointment during school hours, we expect them to attend school both before and after their appointment. You will need to ask at the office for a permission slip to show that they are authorised to be out of school during this time.

If you decide to take your child on holiday during school time - even though this is actively discouraged - there is an application form for you to complete. Please ask at the office for more details about the authorisation procedure.
