Family Learning at Brightside School
Some of the Family Learners in 2017.
During the academic year 2016/17 a wide variety of Family Learning classes and activities were attended by a number of parents, friends of parents, grandparents and other family members as well as members of the local community. "Build a Robot" was probably one of the most successful courses offered at Brightside enabling those attending to make some fantastic robots and becoming skilled computer programmers.
The ESOL course has been well attended and we now regularly have between 10 - 12 learners each session. In January we introduced a new course for those people who wanted to improve their own literacy skills. Called 'Conversational English', this is a new course to improve English skills in a more informal way.
The ESOL class will continue in 2017/2018 and in addition we will be offering the following Family Learning courses;
“Family SEAL” - November/December 2017
“Talking together” - January/February 2018
“Learning Through Play ” - February/March 2018
“Sew Much In a Book” - April/May 2018
" Family Health Matters” - June/July 2018
Please speak to our Learning Mentor Mr Simon Smith in the Library for more information or to register for any of the courses.
