At Brightside we love to read! Throughout 2018/2019 we raised money to develop our library at Brightside School.
In 2019 we had the walls decorated, purchased new shelving, created new displays and bought new comfy seating and cushions for the children to sit on. The school council helped to choose what displays and what kind of furniture we wanted. We also bought many new exciting books that we know the children will love reading! We are so proud of how it looks now! Come and use it when you can!
The children have at least one session in the library per half term to encourage them to love reading and try different books.
The school council are currently carrying out research to find out what books the children at Brightside like to read. We will then be purchasing more books to keep our library well stocked.
During Covid-19, parents/carers can request packs of library books to collect weekly. This can be a mixture of fiction, non-fiction or poetry books. They will then be quarantined upon return. Please email the year group email addresses to request a pack.
The library is open between 8.00-4.15. There are many different exciting books to choose from. Please help yourself and return the books within a week.
There is a library club every Thursday and Friday lunchtime for year 1 and year 2 pupils. The pupils can sign up weekly to enjoy books and quiet games in the library.
In the autumn term we will be asking the children in year 2 to apply for a job to be a library monitor. The monitors will be in the library between 8.40-8.55am every morning. They will help children to choose the books, tidy any returned books away, organise books and help children to sign books out.
